Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere is leading Christmas Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga as Christians world wide celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
He has called on Christians to be clean in body and soul, saying contrary behavior leads to the uncleanliness witnessed in many parts of the city Kampala. He praised the Ugandan anthem, that he said was like a text from the bible, directing citizens how to behave well and trust God.
The Archbishop thanked Christians for raising a record sh1billion for Ssabasumba Annual Appeal Fund (SAAFU) this year. He prayed for prosperity for Ugandans, saying this in the end reflects on proper funding for the church.
Hours earlier, Pope Francis presided over the Christmas Eve Mass for the Nativity of the Lord and opened the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, marking the start of the Jubilee of Hope 2025.
