Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |Ā Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is fully back on X (twitter). His latest is a tweet critical of Presidential advisor and brother in law Odrek Rwabogo, that he deleted soon after.
He had taken a sabbatical most of 2023, after President Yoweri Museveni apologised to Kenya for his tweets that threatened to invade neighbours Kenya and capture its capital in two weeks, in 2022.
The tweet was a joke Kenyans did not take lightly as it indicated the Uganda army’s readiness to invade Nairobi. “It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, 2 weeks to capture Nairobi,ā Muhoozi, then UPDF Commander Land forces, tweeted.
He was soon after dropped form the powerful position of Commander Land Forces.
āI ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for tweets sent by General Muhoozi,ā Museveni said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that public officers should not interfere in the affairs of other countries.
The President however added that, āI know for a fact that General Muhoozi is a passionate Pan-Africanist. However, the correct method for Pan-Africanists is confidential interactions or using the available forums.ā
Muhoozi was then dropped from his role as Commander of the UPDF land forces, promoted and made an advisor, and only to return just over a year later, as CDF in March 2024.
His appointment in March followed an attempt to form a new political group called PLU.
On his return into active duty in the army, he resumed social media engangements quietly, but in the past month, is back to his old ways on X. HERE are some of his latests tweets.
The USA owes at least $100 billion for our work in Somalia. We did alot better than the people in Ukraine. It seems their speciality is running from Russians. We are waiting for payment.

$100 billion is the minimum I demand from the USA. And they will pay every penny! Fast and in a hurry! On top of that they’ll invite me to visit the US Army…soon.
