10 killed in Kyenjojo road crash

Kyenjojo, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Ten people have been killed in a road crash in Kyenjojo District. The crash happened on Wednesday at 4:00 am at Kaihura Trading Center along the Fort Portal-Kampala highway.

Vincent Twesige the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, says that the accident involved a bus registration number UBE 807T belonging to Pokopoko Bus Company and a Toyota Hiace taxi registration UBR 812G.

Twesige says that the taxi which was heading to Kampala had a head-on collision with the bus going to Kasese.  According to Twesige, the dead were passengers in the taxi including their driver.

The Police Spokesperson revealed that preliminary investigations show that the accident was a result of reckless driving by the Taxi driver.

A yet-to-be-confirmed number of passengers who sustained injuries were rushed to Kyenjojo Hospital for treatment while the identities of the deceased have not yet been established.
