Kampala, Uganda | PATRICIA AKANKWATSA | Acibadem Healthcare Group, a leading Turkish medical entity, on May 29th, inaugurated its first information office in Kampala, marking a significant milestone in the region’s healthcare landscape.
This strategic move aims to leverage advanced medical technology and provide Ugandans with state-of-the-art healthcare solutions.
By establishing a presence in Uganda, Acibadem Healthcare is set to revolutionise the local medical field, offering a range of cutting-edge services that promise to enhance the quality of patient care and medical outcomes.
Located at Acacia Mall in Kampala, the new office will serve as a central point for providing access to top-notch medical knowledge and vital health information. The office is designed to facilitate consultations, provide second opinions, and coordinate advanced medical treatments available at Acibadem’s hospitals in Turkey.
During the opening ceremony, Ilyas Benveniste, Acibadem’s Business Development Director, highlighted the benefits the Ugandan healthcare system will gain from this initiative.
“The Ugandan healthcare system will benefit from advanced diagnostic tools, treatment alternatives, and telemedicine capabilities because of Acibadem Healthcare’s dedication to innovation and excellence,” Benveniste stated.
He emphasized that Acibadem’s commitment to providing high-quality medical care will significantly improve patient care and medical outcomes in Uganda.
Dr Jackson Ojera Abusu Acibadem country representative said that Acibadem has so far opened 60 information offices globally and the Kampala office is the 61st and just like any other sister offices elsewhere, the Kampala office will be responsible for coordination and ensuring collaboration between Acibadem and Uganda runs smoothly.
“The collaboration will include but not be limited to referrals of patients and clients to Acibadem hospitals in Turkey, capacity development and capacity enhancement of Uganda health workers and other areas of collaboration,”
Levent Serdar Dervisoglu, the Ugandan Honorary Consul in Istanbul, highlighted Uganda’s favourable investment climate and hospitality as key factors in attracting Acibadem. He anticipates more Turkish businesses venturing into Uganda due to this positive environment.
The Consulate itself emphasized Uganda’s strong banking system, efficient lending processes, and lack of language barriers – all crucial factors for successful investment.
The Turkish Ambassador to Uganda, Mehmet Fatih Ak, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Uganda’s progress. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two nations and Turkey’s commitment to fostering trade alliances.
Ambassador Ak revealed plans to bring Turkish professionals to Uganda to assess potential investment opportunities. He reassured Uganda of Turkey’s continued interest in investing across various sectors, driven by Uganda’s significant growth potential.
