Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Once again, Airtel Uganda and Buganda Kingdom have entered into partnering to hold the 2018 Kabaka Birthday Run. The proceeds from the event, slated for April 08, 2018, at Bulange Mengo, will go towards fighting sickle cell disease.
Launching the event kits in Mengo on March 14, Remmie Kisaakye, the head of brand and communications at Airtel, said their sponsorship of the run with the Kingdom, which she said fits well in their business strategy, aims at giving back part of the profits they make in the telecom industry but also to fight against sickle cells disease.
The Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Peter Mayiga, applauded Airtel and other sponsors for supporting their work and fighting deadly diseases like sickle cells.
“This event is special because we will be celebrating the 63rd birthday of the Kabaka and 25 years of his enthronement,” Mayiga said.
