Akena section of UPC denounce Otunnu

A section of members of the Uganda People’s Congress have denounced Olara Otunnu, claiming he is not part of them as his term of office expired on 13th March 2015.

At a press conference on Wednesday, UPC’s Spokesperson Michael Osinde said the Court of Appeal acknowledged Jimmy Akena as the substantive President of UPC party.

He accused Otunnu of secretly planning to hold a National Council meeting at Emerald Hotel around Bat Valley Primary School that was halted by Police officers for contravening the UPC Constitution.

A week earlier, a group of idlers were interrogated and arrested for having mischievous plot to overthrow the UPC administration. The group that was organised by Peter Warubiri, a board member of Milton Obote Foundation (MOF) that planned to take over the premises of UPC offices at Uganda House.

“Apparently Warubiri is on the run but we have improvised security at work premises and we are working together with police. Otunnu left freely without any mandate from the party, to join Amama Mbabazi’s ‘GO FORWARD’ as the Head of the Campaign Task Force, so he should not tamper with our administrative structure,” Osinde remarked.
