American National sent back on remand to prepare for trial

Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI | Entebbe Magistrates Court on Monday remanded an American National to Kigo Government Prison on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and live ammunition.

Paul Rogers Mathias who was recently arrested from Entebbe International Airport and arraigned before Court last Friday, had today been brought back for the hearing of his case before Chief Magistrate Mary Kaitesi.

However his lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi was not ready to proceed yet prosecution was ready with its first witness.

Court then adjourned the case to the March 19, 2018.

Paul Mathias who is also battling other charges related to domestic violence in the same Court, was found with a pistol and 165 live ammunitions without a valid licence, between February 09,2018 and March 18, 2018 at his residence of Mawanyi village -Bwebajja in Kajjansi Town Council – Wakiso district.

Paul is then said to have physically assaulted his wife Lillian Kaitesi on January 13, 2018 still from their home, and caused her actual bodily harm.

For this case he returns to Grade one Magistrate Mastullah Mulondo on March 02, 2018 for trial to start.

He has since denied both allegations.
