Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Angry residents of Agoro sub-county in Lamwo district have lynched a defilement suspect.
Rachael Okot, a resident of Lopulingi parish in Agoro sub-county was killed on Tuesday a day after he was granted bail by the Lamwo grade one magistrate.
The Aswa river region police spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema told URN in an interview the deceased surfaced at their home drunk on Tuesday and started fighting his family members.
He says Okot beat one of his brothers identified as Ronald Okot and broke his arm, which attracted an angry mob to beat to him to death.
Okema says the victim was rushed to Agoro health center III for treatment where he is still admitted.
According to Okema, police visited the crime scene and retrieved the deceased’s body pending postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
Okema says the deceased’s father is locked up at Agoro police post to help police investigations.
He says police has entered a case of murder by mob justice under CRB: 50/2019 at Agoro police post.
