Mbale High Court has today thrown out hitherto Budadiri East MP elect Vincent Waboya.
Mbale High Court judge Andrew Bashaija Wednesday afternoon ruled that Waboya had not resigned from his office as Principal Disaster Officer in the office of the Prime Minister (OPM) before he contested for Budadiri East seat. His rival, FDC’s Isiah Sasaga challenged Waboya’s victory.
Sasaga adduced evidence that Waboya continued to receive salary till December even after he resigned on May 12, 2015. He also received sh50m in June from OPM for dissemination of disaster management information in Kween, Sironko and Bulambuli districts, indicating that he was still a staff member.
Waboya joins Peter Sematimba who was thrown out of parliament as Busiro South MP following a successful electoral petition earlier, and Isaac Mulindwa Ssozi, MP Lugazi Municipality, Buikwe district, also thrown out over lack of academic qualifications.
