Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Etienne Marin and Jovia Tugume claimed the overall winners prizes at the first Uganda Irish Open held on Saturday. Marin scored 42 Stableford points while Tugume returned with 39 points. Earlier, Dr Peter Apell sunk a hole in one on the par 3, hole 12.
The genesis of this tournament is rooted in the Irish society Charitable Contribution towards various good causes in the Ugandan community, according to a statement from the club.
This year, they intend to raise sh100 million, through various activities among which golf is a selected platform. The Irish community in Uganda made 70 years this year while the Irish Embassy made 30 years.
