Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Kampala Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has asked Christians to continue fasting as the country fights the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Lwanga made the call on Sunday while leading the Easter Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga in Kampala.
Archbishop Lwanga led prayers with limited priests following the government ban on gatherings to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Lwanga stated that during the lent period, Christians take part in several charity works including helping the needy, orphans, repenting as well as fasting. He added that such activities should continue especially continue during the fight against Covid -19.
Lwanga is hopeful that with the resurrection, it will help the Christians to continue being strengthened to achieve their Christianity goals.
Archbishop Lwanga also called upon Christians to continue promoting peace in their homes and form prayer groups, which will help in wiping out domestic violence cases which he notes have increased.
