Take the example of “Taking Her Prayer Dose”, where he presents a woman on her knees with both hands joined in supplication to the Almighty but giving off the impression of one drinking liquor from a calabash. Down her chest is a pair of bare breasts hanging loose above her garments. This irony is unknown in the real world where people would rather present themselves before God with some decency, not as though in the bathroom. In another work titled “Man Chasing Man” we see a spear-wielding hunter very close to sinking his weapon into the back another ‘man’ (read animal) that he is pursuing. The prey has its pair of balls menacingly swinging behind it almost threatening to fall off (he never misses a chance to emphasise this point!). And in the piece “Team Work”, four half-naked women are carrying a large fish that has several other smaller ones on top of it. They seem to march home in anticipation to enjoy their catch, going by the enthusiasm that their eyes exude.
Sendagire is a printmaker who works with the technique of dark to light, with some intermediary tones. His characteristic hues of emerald and yellow have been his signature palette for close to a decade and a half. The goggle-eyed figurines have dominated his themes for that long. He has permanent displays in a number of galleries, including Nommo gallery, Afriart, Umoja, Aid Child Equation and Real African gallery in Zanzibar. He has also been widely exhibited in Nigeria, France, Macedonia, Tanzania, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Japan, among others.
