Asian businessman found dead in Mbarara

Mbarara, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | An Asian businessman has been found dead in his apartment in Mbarara city. Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira identifies the deceased as 50-year-old Tana Tijas Dhrajilal, a resident of Rugazi cell, Mbarara city South division.

According to Kasasira, Tijas’ lifeless body was recovered from his house on Tuesday. Ivan Onen, the Officer in Charge of Kakoba police post says that a group of Indians filed a case of a missing person on Tuesday afternoon, when their colleague failed to show up for work. They also tried to access him through his mobile telephone in vain.

According to Onen, he brought the matter to the attention of his superiors at the central police station, who sent a team of detectives and scene of crime officers. He said that the officers broke padlocks to gain entrance to Tijas’ apartment where they found his lifeless body lying on the bed, dressed in a shirt, boxer and underwear.

“A small injection, bottles with medicine while others were empty, plus syringes were found beside the body,” Kasasira revealed. An Indian who preferred anonymity says that the deceased was diabetic and would often use insulin.

According to Kasasira, the deceased’s body is lying at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem as investigations are ongoing.
