Fort Portal, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | One person has died and six others sustained injuries in an accident involving a Baby Coach bus and Boda boda in Kachamba trading center along the Fort Portal- Kasese road.
The accident occurred when the Baby coach bus registration number UAU 503L veered off the road and knocked dead Amayire Asiimwe, a Boda boda rider in Kachamba trading center on Saturday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus that was coming from Kasese veered off the road when the driver tried to avoid a Boda boda rider who was crossing the road.
The injured were rushed to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital for treatment and the deceased body was taken to the mortuary for a postmortem. Police were yet to comment on the accident by the time of publishing this story.
In May, over 20 people died after a bus belonging to Link Bus Company got into an accident along the Fort Portal Kampala Road. A traffic report released in July indicates that 435 people had been killed in just five weeks in various road crashes across the country.
