MADRID | Xinhua | FC Barcelona have tied down one of their most promising young players, with confirmation that Marc Casado has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until June 2028.
The 20-year-old B-team captain has made 61 appearances for the Barcelona B team, which currently plays in the third tier of the Spanish game, and made his first-team debut in March as a substitute against Atletico Madrid.
Casado will join Barcelona’s first-team squad under new coach Hansi Flick, where his abilities as a holding midfielder playing in front of the defense will give depth to an area that was a problem for former boss Xavi Hernandez last season. ■
