Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | National Unity Party President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has written a protest note to NBS TV, making several allegations. NBS is yet to respond to the accusations, but social media was full of reactions, including from the President’s secretary Don Wanyama.
Kyagulanyi is set to protest results of the January 14 Presidential elections in the Supreme Court on Monday.
In the elections, Yoweri Museveni was declared winner with close to 59% of the vote cast against his closest rival, Kyagulanyi, who polled 35% of the vote.

At the height of the most fraudulent election in our nation’s history, after the regime locked out credible election observers and cut off the internet; after the regime came out and said that NO ONE except the Electoral Commission had the authority to release election results, NBS was at hand to assist the dictatorship in committing the most vile crime against the people of Uganda.
NBS claimed to have established its own Tally Center (which other media houses were not allowed to do), and by 11:00pm, they were saying that Museveni had 63% from several districts. Most citizens wondered where these results were coming from. To complete their well calibrated plan, they lined up some so-called analysts to justify the results.
It was clear the intention was to create the impression that Museveni was leading so as to dampen the spirits of the citizens who had roundly rejected the dictatorship. Shame upon whoever was part of the plot to subvert the will of the people. Ugandans are certainly watching.
This week, I wrote a protest letter to them to express my disappointment, which very many Ugandans have expressed.

We thank God that Bobi wine lost the election because he is a national Leadership disaster in Uganda due to his monumental ignorance of statistics maths and general knowledge as clearly depicted in his official academic credentials

Bobi Wine seems to have organized the Baganda around himself. He’s now the supremo in Buganda, not the Kabaka. The Kabaka has been working with M7 but now Bobi Wine is leading the Buganda populace rather than the Kabaka. The Kabaka is a Protestant and his katikkiro is a Catholic. Bobi Wine is a Catholic and went to Catholic rituals where he requested to speak with his dead parents. This is un-Christian and also anti-Buganda culture. Mayega was campaigning for Bobi Wine openly because they are both Catholics. He could have done this on his own, not necessarily with the permission of the Kabaka. On land matters, Bobi Wine is a big landowner and yet he tries to identify with the ghetto/slum dwellers. Being a big landowner, he has now snatched the followers of the Kabaka who is the traditional custodian of all Buganda land. Bobi Wine is leading a rebellion against the Buganda monarchy. It is him that politicians/leaders now pay allegiance to, not the Kabaka. He has made the Kabaka and Baganda Protestants toothless in Buganda. Look who are the most vocal leaders now in Buganda. None of them is Protestant; the Masaka vocal group is Catholic, the Mukono one too, ie. Nambooze, etc.
Quite disheartening that a Ugandan of your calibar minimises politics to religion. Atleast if it had been tribe. For all those who reacted to my statement, none of you disputed what I stated. This means that what I have said is a shocker to all of you, not just for the sake of it, but because that is the situation on the ground. None of you has countered what I have said with facts. None of you has disagreed. Many of you have only expressed disappointment that the statement exposed the Catholic rebellion against the Kabaka as though it is something that should have remained a “top secrete”. The Catholic Baganda have rebelled and are trying to take power from the Protestant Kabaka. The earlier arrangement of the chiefs in Buganda being Protestants is in serious jeopardy right now. The peasants/tenants might rebel and take over the land tenure system and effectively erode the relevance of the Kabaka’s role or traditional authority. Religion in Buganda is part of the politics. And the Catholics have been grumbling since 1954. They grew more restless after the British refused to recognize Catholic-led Ben Kiwanuka’s election of 1961 and nullified it. On the other hand, the Protestant led KY was more acceptable to the British. Right now both the Kabaka and NRM leader M7 are Protestants. In reciprocation or even appeasement, M7 had appointed Edward Ssekandi Kiwanuka, a Masaka-based Catholic for a more harmonious arrangement. Masaka is the seat of the Catholic faith. However, the Catholics have rejected Ssekandi for working with a Protestant in an arrangement that enhances the “domination” of the Catholics, especially in Buganda. Some of you are trying to say that it’s a non-issue. It is the main issue.

On a serious note, I listened once more to Dr King’s final speech. Wow, what a man! What a message! Listening to Dr King, I couldn’t help noticing similarities between the American society of the 1960s and today’s Uganda. The key difference to my mind is when Dr King said, peaceful protest, it was really peaceful. His healed the USA. I think we can learn from him.
During the presidential election campaign I had stopped of watching NBS because they featured much of kyagulanyi and less of other candidates but now see the claims from the NUP principal. The media hyped kyagulanyi so much particularly NBS.
So you two need to sort yourselves, we are now in February don’t take us back to January
All in all.there is a big problem with both parties.when M7 wins in western , it is not tribalism .when another wins in their home soil, it is tribalism.and so is it that if somebody stands outside NRM , he becomes an opportunist.
Those guys should know that anyone as long as is ugandan has a right to participate in governance of the country regardless of which political party because Uganda is not an NRM kingdom.

Bobi Wine seems to have organized the Baganda around himself. He’s now the supremo in Buganda, not the Kabaka. The Kabaka has been working with M7 but now Bobi Wine is leading the Buganda populace rather than the Kabaka. The Kabaka is a Protestant and his katikkiro is a Catholic. Bobi Wine is a Catholic and went to Catholic rituals where he requested to speak with his dead parents. This is un-Christian and also anti-Buganda culture. Mayega was campaigning for Bobi Wine openly because they are both Catholics. He could have done this on his own, not necessarily with the permission of the Kabaka. On land matters, Bobi Wine is a big landowner and yet he tries to identify with the ghetto/slum dwellers. Being a big landowner, he has now snatched the followers of the Kabaka who is the traditional custodian of all Buganda land. Bobi Wine is leading a rebellion against the Buganda monarchy. It is him that politicians/leaders now pay allegiance to, not the Kabaka. He has made the Kabaka and Baganda Protestants toothless in Buganda. Look who are the most vocal leaders now in Buganda. None of them is Protestant; the Masaka vocal group is Catholic, the Mukono one too, ie. Nambooze, etc.
I thought the time has past for religious wars. Its time for the common interests not identity.

For all those who reacted to my statement, none of you disputed what I stated. This means that what I have said is a shocker to all of you, not just for the sake of it, but because that is the situation on the ground. None of you has countered what I have said with facts. None of you has disagreed. Many of you have only expressed disappointment that the statement exposed the Catholic rebellion against the Kabaka as though it is something that should have remained a “top secrete”. The Catholic Baganda have rebelled and are trying to take power from the Protestant Kabaka. The earlier arrangement of the chiefs in Buganda being Protestants is in serious jeopardy right now. The peasants/tenants might rebel and take over the land tenure system and effectively erode the relevance of the Kabaka’s role or traditional authority. Religion in Buganda is part of the politics. And the Catholics have been grumbling since 1954. They grew more restless after the British refused to recognize Catholic-led Ben Kiwanuka’s election of 1961 and nullified it. On the other hand, the Protestant led KY was more acceptable to the British. Right now both the Kabaka and NRM leader M7 are Protestants. In reciprocation or even appeasement, M7 had appointed Edward Ssekandi Kiwanuka, a Masaka-based Catholic for a more harmonious arrangement. Masaka is the seat of the Catholic faith. However, the Catholics have rejected Ssekandi for working with a Protestant in an arrangement that enhances the “domination” of the Catholics, especially in Buganda. Some of you are trying to say that it’s a non-issue. It is the main issue.

On a serious note, I listened once more to Dr King’s final speech. Wow, what a man! What a message! Listening to Dr King, I couldn’t help noticing similarities between the American society of the 1960s and today’s Uganda. The key difference to my mind is when Dr King said, peaceful protest, it was really peaceful. His healed the USA. I think we can learn from him.
During the presidential election campaign I had stopped of watching NBS because they featured much of kyagulanyi and less of other candidates but now see the claims from the NUP principal. The media hyped kyagulanyi so much particularly NBS.
So you two need to sort yourselves, we are now in February don’t take us back to January
All in all.there is a big problem with both parties.when M7 wins in western , it is not tribalism .when another wins in their home soil, it is tribalism.and so is it that if somebody stands outside NRM , he becomes an opportunist.
Those guys should know that anyone as long as is ugandan has a right to participate in governance of the country regardless of which political party because Uganda is not an NRM kingdom.

Does anyone remember the fantastic story that was woven around his death? The graphic details of how the state had tortured him & dumbed him? It became difficult to believe what tales came out of this camp after this…..then the bullying & intimidation!!!!? Makes your opponents look like saints.
