Bundibugyo, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Teachers of Bubukwanga Secondary School in Bundibugyo District are decrying the lack of scholastic materials.
The government aided school which started in 2015 has an enrollment of over 600 students. However, the school lacks a library, textbooks for both teachers and students and a series of teaching aids.
Johnson Happy, the Director of Studies, says that the absence of textbooks for teachers has greatly affected the delivery of lesson plans.
Happy notes that the challenges have affected the general performance of learners and equally affected the delivery of knowledge by the teachers.
Boniface Baguma, a Senior One student who is passionate about science subjects says the lack of library and computer laboratory has affected their learning process.
Baguma says that he is worried that the current state of the chemistry laboratory and lack of library will affect his performance in examinations.
Anthony Balyebulya, the head teacher says he has written to the Ministry of Education for intervention and is yet to receive a response.
The Bundibugyo District Education Officer Justus Bithaghalire acknowledges the challenges which have affected the education sector in the district.
Bithaghalire says they will continue reminding government to address the gaps.
