Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The presidential advisor on ghetto affairs, Mark Bugembe alias Buchaman together with his crew have surrendered a number of attires and others that resemble military and police uniforms that they have been in possession of illegally.

The development comes after a warning by security that operations to crack down all civilians donning military attire will go on across the country. Last week, security raided National Unity Platform offices in Kamwokya and other parts of the city where several people were arrested and military attires confiscated.

Buchman in the company of his crew ghetto team of about 100 people handed over the attires to the Kampala metropolitan South Region Police Commander James Ruhweza in Kizungu zone, Makindye division.

According to Bugembe, they have decided to hand over all the military attires among which are those that they have been using in video shootings in conformity with the directives of security forces in the country.

He says that he has been on a mission to collect all military attires from ghetto people since last week. He says that they have done it to avoid members of the ghetto falling into the hands of security.

He also issued a 14-day ultimatum to all ghetto members he leads to hand over all remaining military and any security attires to him before they face the wrath of the law.

Over a hundred members of Buchanan’s crew surrendered overalls, berets, pairs of navy blue warm suits, uniforms, badges and military uniforms. Salim Rwabirura who heads security on Buchman’s team said that the idea by his leader is good because it will save their colleagues from endless arrests.

Another member who is called Coach Rocky said that handing over those attires is a sign to all government leaders and security personnel that ghetto members are law abiding.

The Kampala Metropolitan South Police commande, James Ruhweza applauded Buchaman and his ghetto group for leading by example. Adding that the operations are continuing to recover all attires that were gazetted for armed forces in the country.

“We shall continue with operations on illegal use of armed forces uniforms. Our targets are on the illegal manufacture, supply and distribution and selling of the armed uniforms across the country including berets, pips, ranger boots and heavy jackets,” said Ruhweza.
