Jinja, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | FUFA Super 8 cup defending champions, BUL FC, are optimistic of retaining the trophy against SC Vipers on Sunday.
BUL first bagged the Super 8 trophy in August last year, after beating then-close contenders, URA FC. BUL sailed through this year’s final, following a 63rd-minute goal from Pascal Ngobi, against fellow title contenders, Kitara FC in the semi-finals.
BUL’s head coach, Abbey Kikomeko says that the boys are gearing up for the finals with boldness because they have won the same before and this very experience will enable them to retain it with ease.
Kikomeko also notes that his squad is enthusiastic with young players, most of whom carry the competitive spirit of giving their all to the game and materializing the available opportunities to win it all.
Kikomeko says that the boys have intensified tactical training ahead of the finals, as it is very key in their journey of edging out the Vipers, who are equally optimistic about winning.
Kikomeko adds that the coaches have dedicated extra time towards offering psychosocial support to recently promoted young players in the squad. This is meant to equip them with mental readiness skills to encounter all opponents with confidence, irrespective of the prevailing history.
Faisal Mohammed, a renowned football analyst in the Busoga sub-region urged BUL FC to double their efforts with their current opponent, Vipers, whom he says to be hungry to win this trophy en route to the Uganda Premier League Cup after failing to win any trophies last season.
Mohammed further advised the managers of BUL FC to mobilize crowds of fans to the stadium, as their cheering roars are instrumental boosts for the seemingly young squad to stretch further into decisive goal scoring, which is essential in securing them a final win.
