Busia, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Sheikh Jamir Juma Obandio, the Busia district Kadhi has advised Muslims to always wear their tunics and veils when and after performing Tarawehe prayers for consideration by security personals.
Muslims started the holy month of Ramadhan as one of the pillars in the Islam faith on 14th April, 2021 and it shall take 29-30 days from the sighting of the crecent moon to the next month.
During Ramadhan, Muslims perform Tarawehe prayers that starts from 8:00Pm to 10:00Pm in the addition of qyam and Isha’a prayers done in daily basis.
In the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country, president Yoweri Museveni pronounced curfew that starts at exactly 9:00pm.
Shiekh Jamiru Juma Obandio, the Busia district Kadhi asked the Imams in mosques to reduce on the time for performing Tarawehe prayers so as not to risk the life of believers, enabling them to move early to their respective homes in time without clashing with security personals.
Obandio says that they are expecting some communication from Uganda Muslim supreme council following the letter they written to relevant authorities asking the curfew to be extended to 11:00pm in favor of their prayer pillars.
The tunics and veils shall help in easy identification during and after performing Tarawehe prayers so that security personnel can give them special consideration while on their way back to their respective homes.
Moses Kakiryo, the Busia district police commander-DPC cautioned the Muslims to comply with curfew time to avoid arrest by officers who are always on duty to enforce the presidential directives.
Those who fail face the risk of being arrested and shall be charged accordingly, regardless of their religion.
