Jinja, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | George Musenero, the Buyende town council National Resistance Movement-NRM party chairperson has died in a motor accident. The 60 year old Musenero perished in an accident on Tuesday afternoon in Butabaala trading center along Kamuli-Jinja highway.
Musenero who was riding a motorcycle registration number UAF 99E rammed into a sugarcane truck registration number UAM 083N destined for Kamuli. The truck driver fled from the scene of crime while the deceased’s body is lying at Kamuli general hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Musenero was heading for the burial of Ben Kiliwaigulu, the Buwenge town council NRM chairperson who died in a hit and run accident along the same highway on Monday.
Fatinah Nakyisuyi, one of the eyewitnesses says that the truck driver lost control and parked abruptly forcing Musenero to ram into his vehicle.
“The vehicle was being driven at breakneck speed. While running over the humps, the driver parked the truck abruptly, Musenero who was riding from the opposite direction rammed into it and died instantly,” she said.
Michael Kyusa, the team leader of NRM chairpersons in Busoga sub region says the late Musenero was a uniting factor who laboured to mobilize grass root support selflessly for his party without facilitation from their top most leadership.
Busoga North Police spokesperson Michael Kasadha says police have towed the wreckage to Kamuli central police station parking yard as traffic personnel investigate the cause of the accident.
