Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Uganda will host the regional Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup 2019.
Moses Hasim Magogo, the Uganda FA President agreed that they will host the Championship during a meeting for CECAFA members held at the Jupiter International Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Monday.
“We shall be ready to host a Challenge Cup in December and this tournament will help us also prepare for the 2020 Africa Nations Championship if we qualify,” Magogo told URN.
Uganda who have won the regional trophy a record 14 times last hosted the Championship in 2012.
Nicholas Musonye, the CECAFA Secretary General told URN that Uganda will host the event December 1-19th. “We shall disclose more on the venues and other aspects,” added Musonye.
“Presidents of Federations and CECAFA have agreed that we shall have a busy 2019 with seven Championships,” explained Musonye.
He said Eritrea has also accepted to host the boys U-17 tournament, while the Cecafa Kagame Club Championship will take place in Rwanda and Cecafa Women’s Championship in Tanzania. The others events on the calendar include; the Girls U-17 and the Boys and Girls U-20 competitions.
