Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Motorists are struggling to enter Kampala from the west after a section of the Masaka road gave way, a few kilometers to the city.
The road section between Kyengera and Budo Junction along Kampala -Masaka highway has partially sunk in due to heavy rains. Motorists are all clogged on the alternative routes heading to and from Kampala.
The road is now closed at Kyengera, and motorists from Kampala to Masaka and using Nakawuka road -Budo junction or Kitemu to access Kampala-Masaka highway.
Others are using Mityana road , to Buloba-Nsangi to access Kampala-Masaka Highway.
Motorists from Masaka to Kampala are going via Kitemu or Budo and Nakawuka to access Kampala.
There was a similar incident in December last year, with traffic at the Busega-Kyengera section along the Kampala-Masaka Highway again diverted following a collapse of the roadway.
Current situation on Masaka Road as you head to Buddo. People slept in buses, trucks parked on the road. It’s BAD.
