Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has extended the deadline for the display of shortlisted census enumerator and supervisor applications due to numerous complaints from applicants nationwide. The extension will last for an additional two days, with the new deadline set for April 12th, 2024, instead of the earlier date of April 8th.
Chris Mukiza, the UBOS Executive Director and census commissioner, emphasized that this extension aims to address reported errors in the recruitment process and allow for more evidence-based complaints to be addressed. “This goes to the district recruitment teams, especially CAOs, the display of shortlisted candidates should continue until 12th April 2024 at 5 pm,” he said.
He highlighted major complaints received, including the shortlisting of unqualified applicants, extortion of money from applicants for interviews, and the existence of a fake recruitment web portal named http://adhoc.ugcensus.infogov.sit.
Mukiza clarified that the official application period closed on March 22nd, 2024, and any other web portal soliciting money should be reported to the police. Another concern raised, though less prevalent, is discrimination against applicants based on their region of origin.
Mukiza emphasized UBOS’s commitment to equal opportunity employment and assured transparency in the recruitment process. The extension has impacted the census timetable, pushing enumerator interviews from this week to next week, starting April 15th, 2024.
Districts have been instructed to suspend ongoing interviewing processes until the review of lodged complaints is completed. Mukiza emphasized that shortlisting does not guarantee qualification for the job; final selection will be determined through interviews. Qualifying candidates will be contacted through sub-country administration structures for participation in the interview process.
The same web portal used for job applications will also facilitate the lodging of complaints under the same user names, with users following prompts as directed on the portal.

I applied and did the aptitude test but up to now , I haven’t heard of any move since then. That’s to say, when next are we going for training or talk of at least being told that it wasn’t successful.
Why is it that they recruited Enumerators not of that village. Yet me I applied but not going through
It means, there are no applicants found on the vacancies of that cell/ward.thats’why others of neighbouring cells are engaged in that job.

This shows shortlisting was ending on 8/04/2023 yet even by 9/04/2024 most districts had not shortlisted successfull candidates.May be it is being done in the board room

Sir, i got an email on 2/4/2024 congratulating me upon the success of my application being shortlisted and was told to wait for future communication but in vain.But i heard from a friend that interviews are already underway so i decided to check on the UBOS page and it seems she was right. Unfortunately, i don’t know which office to go to for assistance.

I applied from Kabale municipality upper Bugongi Northern Division Rushambya cell as enumerator. But I wasn’t shortlisted. To my surprise , one Ainebyona Linah has been given two responsibilities,ie enumerator and supervisor. May I be considered on one and she remains with one.

To avoid recruitment based on know who at the sub county, It would be better for UBOS to ask us to submit our papers on email and the screen out candidates other than shortlisting five candidates for just one post and leading to extortion of money by the recruitment team at the district
i like ur suggestion. People were just faking on ubos website and after bcoz they have their know who they will be passed on interviews

Secondly, ubos also advertise , o, level,A level and un eqweiverlen and thy omite, thairdly, there are other villages and celles which are still vacant and we applyed for, another thing you required for a recommendation from that particular village, how should that person go and work in that village when there is no recommendation.I Applye for the post of enumaretor in kween District, kaproron Ward, kaproron Town council, kapnyali cell.

Hello my nàme is Obedmot Sammy , I have my complaint to the management teams of UBOS because I have applied for the post of Supervisor in Gulu district, Aswa County, Owalo sub-county, Lugore Parish and I have all the required documents needed but I haven’t received any messages in my phone and I don’t know really why ànd how the shortlist had been done and if not yet I’m still waiting for my message. While applying, ubos gave us provisions for P.7,0’lev, A’level and others but to make matters worse, All those with 0’level have not been shortlisted is it also a general problem or it’s only in bududa

Another issue applicants are facing is that they have all required requirements including the national IDs but the problem is that the numbers the are having are in their relatives name this is due to the failure of there finger print failing to be recognized during the proces of line registration and the they tried it for several times. Is there any other way for ubos payments to be held

Hello UBOS in Badaka district they didn’t mind about papers or level of education even those without papers were interviewed ,some were given the paper we did to revise a day before the interviews so for us with papers they have dropped some of us .SO HELP US
