Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has issued a warrant of arrest for John Watenga, the farm manager of former State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes Nandutu.

Lady Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga issued the warrant of arrest against Watenga on Friday when the matter came up for further hearing.

State Attorney David Bisamunyu requested a warrant of arrest after Watenga who was reportedly present at Nandutu’s farm in Mukono District from where the alleged iron sheets meant for the vulnerable people of Karamoja were recovered.

The Court has been looking for Watenga since May 2024 without success, so a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

Justice Kajuga has also issued criminal summons against Nandutu who is facing charges of dealing with suspect property after she was equally not in court and neither were her lawyers.

The two are required to appear in court on November 6th 2024 for further hearing of the case.  So far nine Prosecution witnesses have testified in the matter.

The prosecution alleges that in June 2022 at the Office of the Prime Minister’s stores in Namanve and Kkola Cell Bulwanyi Parish Mukono district, Nandutu dealt with 2,000 pre-painted iron sheets gauge 28 belonging to the government of Uganda.

Nandutu is out on bail.
