Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Four patients who have recovered from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been discharged from Mulago Specialised National Referral Hospital.
Now a total number of 12 recovered patients have been discharged.
The rest had been earlier released from the treatment center at Entebbe Regional Referral hospital.
According to an update to journalists, six more will be released on Thursday after their second tests tested negative.
Treatment guidelines stipulate that after treatment and the symptoms have resolved, at least two tests are taken 48 hours apart before they are considered cured. Then, they can be discharged back to their communities.
However, the identities of those so far recovered has not be released for fear of being stigmatized by their communities.
Currently Uganda has 55 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with the latest case confirmed yesterday being of a cargo driver who was captured at the border of Uganda and Kenya.
