D-day for FDC elections

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) elections are today at Mandela National Stadium- Namboole

At Nandala Mafabi’s residence in Kyambogo lower estate at 8:30am a crowd has gathered to see the candidate off to the venue.  Some delegates are just leaving for the conference. Their votes will usher (RTD) Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye’s successor.


Safina Asala , a delegate from Koboko district says, “I want the winner to give FDC a strong name.”  She told the Independent that the winner should however unite the party after the elections.

“Expecting Nandala to win, we want a leader who will strengthen the party. Andezu Deogratis from Terego- Maracha , Arua  adds, “Not verbally but in practice”.

Andezu says the delegates should rally behind the person who will take the day.

Semujja Siraj from Bamunanika, Luwero said he is expecting the best from his candidate (Nandala) but will still support the party in the event his candidate loses.

FDC treasurer Jack Sabiiti said over Shs 300million was injected to facilitate today’s elections.  He told the Independent that the only problem his team has encountered was government interference.

“They were giving money to some agents to vote candidates other than Nandala. “

“Politics is local, give somebody who has something. Never give a lazy person work,” Nandala said in an attempt to rally delegates who may still be undecided.

He is confident and assured of his victory.

“We came to win. I joined the opposition to struggle for the wellbeing of the people. NRM should know that they have a force to reckon with.”

The Leader of opposition and Budadiri MP is racing against (RTD) Maj. Gen.  Mugisha Muntu FDC national mobilization secretary and Tororo County MP Ekanya Geoffrey .
