Mukono, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The search for those missing after a Ugandan vessel capsized on  Lake Victoria on Saturday continues into a fourth day Tuesday.

A combined force of Police, UPDF divers and members of the community failed to retrieve more bodies on the third day on Monday. Thirty-two bodies were retrieved on Saturday and Sunday.

The combined group was on the Lake searching for the missing bodies from the capsized K Palm boat that reportedly had over 100 people on board.

In the morning, the fishermen used fishing nets hoping to trap bodies under the water but this took over six hours and they only managed to trap fish and empty bottles.

The Police and UPDF divers also spent the day trying to check in the capsized boat whether there are some bodies, but all in vain.

After failing to retrieve bodies, the team tried to use ropes to pull out the capsized boat. But this also proved difficult. The Director of Operation in the Police, Hassan Mugenyi also joined the team in trying to pull out the vessel, but failed.

SSP Zurah Ganyana, police spokesperson said that chances are few that there are still missing bodies but the operations are still on going until the ship is retrieved to prove that no missing bodies are there.

However, some of the relatives of missing people who were reportedly on the boat kept around the place for the whole day.

Saul Wamala a resident of Ntenjeru town council in Mukono district, has been at the beach the entire day waiting whether a body of his relative Godfrey Musisi, a resident of Kasanga whom they suspect was on boat would be retrieved.

Thirty two bodies have been retrieved since Saturday night and 27 people came out alive from the accident.
