Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Record keeping, formalizing business, paying taxes, forming groups or networks are among the key issues that Dfcu Bank is engaging women in business to do if they are to succeed.
Last week, the bank organized financial literacy sessions in Kampala, Mbale, Gulu and Mbarara where over 400 women gained knowledge on matters business.
Victoria Byenkya, the manager of Women in Business (WiB) at DFCU said since the start of the progamme in 2007, they have witnessed a significant uptake of the program with over 30,000 members currently.
She said access to credit was one of the major challenges that women in business face as majority have low levels of financial literacy and thus unable to document their business, articulate their business plans and projections, which are key in assessing bank credit.
