Opposition Democratic Party has opposed the decision by the Kampala Capital City Authority change of the image of the city.
DP says that trying to rebrand without changing the attitude and the mentality of the city dwellers will not change the city.
According to Jude Mbabaali the DP Spokesperson, rebranding government institutions has not changed the images of those institutions.
“The Uganda Police Force tried to rebrand itself in a similar manner by changing police uniforms but as long as the people who put on the uniform remain the same with the same mentality there can’t be change” he said during the weekly press conference held in Kampala.
He explained further that the new motto which goes for a better city is ambiguous and laden with infinite and impossible promises.
“The past logo had had the history of Kampala in the images of the lion and the Kob (impala). The impala symbol is where Kampala got its name, the country needs this history whether good or bad” he added.
Mbabaali accused the Executive Director Jennifer Musisi for handling the project single handedly without consulting the Lord Mayor and his council in developing the new logo.
