East African golfers battle at Entebbe Ladies Open

Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |  East Africa’s oldest club today welcomes top golfers from the region for the prestigious 14th Entebbe Ladies Open at the par 71, lake side course. Lady golfers from Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda are expected to take part in the tournament that will run until Saturday.

“As the host club for the Uganda Open this year, the Entebbe Ladies Open will give golfers a good opportunity to test the course. We have asked the technical team to set up the course to the standard of the Uganda Open,” said Jovia Tugume, the Lady Club Captain. “I encourage all the ladies to come and participate in this prestigious event, and I promise that we will put on a good show.”

The Entebbe Ladies Open is a World Amateur Golf Ranking event for both the Lady gross players and the Men gross players. It gives and opportunity for both golfers to earn ranking points and know where they are in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

KCB Bank Uganda has offered the tournament a sh8 million boost which will cater for trophies and various prizes while Uganda Airlines will give out three air tickets to Overall Ladies winner, runner up and second runner up.

Other sponsors are Crown Beverages, while the golfers are insured by Britam Uganda.

Last year’s winner Martha Babirye will not be defending her crown as she is out of the country.
