The Electoral Commission (EC) has dispatched election materials including ballot papers from the commission’s warehouse in Banda ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for Thursday Feb.18.
The EC chairman Eng. Badru Kiggundu told journalists that phones and cameras are not allowed in the precincts of polling stations.
He said this rule covers everybody including the local and international observers who are in the country to witness and report whether the principles of democracy are being respected in the electoral process.
Kiggundu added that they had got information that some candidates had set up their separate tally centers to count their vote. He warned these of not interfering with the work of the body since it’s only one mandated to announce the final result.
