Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Ecobank Uganda Limited and the Uganda Red Cross Society announced a three-year partnership on Wednesday, solidifying their commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities across Uganda.
This strategic collaboration, formalized through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), leverages the expertise and resources of both organizations to deliver critical humanitarian assistance, promote financial well-being, and empower individuals.
A central focus of the partnership is the “Keep a Girl in School” program. Ecobank Uganda will develop innovative financial solutions specifically designed to support the Uganda Red Cross Society in addressing the challenges faced by girls who miss out on education due to a lack of menstrual hygiene products. These solutions will streamline donation collection and promote the initiative through robust communication channels.
Both organizations underscored the importance of collective action in achieving transformative change.
Robert Kwesiga, Secretary General of the Uganda Red Cross Society, expressed his appreciation for Ecobank Uganda’s leadership and partnership, particularly during the Red Cross’s 60th anniversary year.
He emphasized the critical role of collaboration in navigating the evolving landscape of humanitarian challenges, aligning with the “Humanity Needs You” campaign.
“We are taking this relationship further and predictable. We can’t always look at donors to make a difference. Their support is earmarked and short-term. So, we call upon all Ugandans to be the source of this humanitarian campaign,”
Grace Muliisa, Managing Director of Ecobank Uganda, highlighted the partnership’s potential to create lasting positive impacts, particularly by ensuring girls’ continuous education.
“We are deeply committed to fostering a generation of educated women who can significantly contribute to building a more prosperous and equitable society,” she stated.
To empower individuals and communities to actively participate in the “Keep a Girl in School” program, Ecobank Uganda has established a dedicated account – “Keep a Girl in School” (Account Number 7195000778) – to facilitate donations.
