Equity Bank Uganda sponsors Top 100 SMEs survey and awards

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Equity Bank Uganda has partnered with KPMG and the Nation Media Group as the main sponsor of Uganda’s Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies survey and awards.

Top 100 mid sized companies is a survey based campaign that has been ongoing for the past few years. It’s been organized by Nation media group (daily monitor, kfm and NTV) in partnership with KPMG which is an auditing firm, previously DFCU BANK was the key sponsor till last year and EQUITY BANK took it up this year.
The main aim of this survey is to analyze and obtain information regarding the Top 100 mid sized companies across the country.

“This initiative presents a significant opportunity for us to showcase our SME offerings and solidify our position as a key financial partner in the sector,” said Anthony Kituuka, MD Equity Bank Uganda at the launch on Monday. He promised that Equity Bank will support the awards for the next three years.

“We work with the government partners to enhance capacity, giving manufacturers more capacity take raw materials of the process and so on. We don’t only focus on making money for businesses. We believe that if that community is well empowered, it will then seek the services of your businesses and their people.”

The purpose of the Top 100 Survey is to identify Uganda’s fastest-growing medium-sized companies, showcase business excellence and highlight some of the country’s most successful entrepreneurship stories. This initiative targets SMEs with a turnover of UGX360 million to UGX25 billion and is an annual activity.

The campaign commenced with a launch on July 22nd and will be followed by a customer survey that will run for three months. The event will culminate in an award dinner gala in December.

Edgar Mukasa Associate Director, Tax & Regulatory Services, KPMG Uganda presened on the topic of the day ” Harnessing Tax opportunities for SMEs from FY 2024/25 National budget,” and asked SMEs to top into the many opportunities in the sh72 trillion Ugandan budget.
