Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Eva Magala, claimed the Uganda Golf Club Ladies Open by 3 strokes on Saturday at the par 72, Kitante course. Magala, returned scores of 75, 78, 75 for a 12 over par 228 gross.
“It feels great winning this tournament I always wanted this one and I thank God for this win,” Magala said “It’s a booster to me going into this coming week’s Uganda Ladies Open.”
The tournament sets the stage for the prestigious Uganda Ladies Open, that tees off from October 12-14.
Magala, intends to turn professional after the Uganda Ladies Open. She will become the third lady Pro in the country the others are Irene Nakalembe and Flavia Namakula. Judith Komugisha, tied with last year’s winner Peace Amooti Kabasweka, on 15 over par, 231 gross.
Two time winner Martha Babirye, finished fourth with scores of 20 over par 236 gross with Harriet Kitaka completing the top 5 with scores of 241gross.
The tournament is organised by the Lady Captain of the Uganda Golf Club and is major event for the Ladies Section at the club.
In the Bronze category Flora Ihunde, claimed this category with a score of 131 nett.
The senior men’s category was won by Moses Turyatemba with 41 points with Jennifer Opio winning the Senior Ladies crown with 142 nett.
Group A, B and C where won by UPDF’s Aggrey Mutaka, Bernard Walimbwa and Nicholas Mandela with scores of 37,43, 43 points respectively.
