Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The prestigious 2024 Captain’s Bell Uganda Golf Tournament Awards Dinner was a night to remember, blending sportsmanship, elegance, and entertainment in an unforgettable celebration. Held at the luxurious Uganda Golf Club Kitante, the event drew golf enthusiasts, dignitaries, and celebrities, all eager to honor the tournament’s outstanding participants.
The evening kicked off with a reception Saturday, where attendees, adorned in glamorous attire, mingled and posed for photos. The venue was transformed into a sophisticated gala setting, setting the stage for an enchanting night.
The highlight of the dinner was the presentation of awards. Perez Muhwezi and Rose Azuba emerged victorious winning the overall men’s and women’s trophies respectively. Thanks to the doubling of cash prizes by Absa Bank Uganda to UGX 20 million, the overall winner, Ronald Rugumayo, walked away with UGX 10 million and the rest of the UGX10 million was split among eleven professionals.
The awards dinner also featured an exciting entertainment band lineup. The night also included a captivating dance performance by Patrick Salvado, with his stand-up comedy skills.
Speaking at the prize giving and 19th hole experience made possible by Absa, the bank’s Managing Director said the bank was proud to be associated with the annual golf event and support the continuity of the great tradition.

During his remarks, the new Captain Paul Charles Rukundo said his leadership would endeavour to foster the growth of both the sport and players.
