Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party has asked the Kyadondo East legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to isolate youth who have started attacking Dr. Kizza Besigye and other party leaders in the name of people power.

Addressing journalists at the FDC headquarters on Monday, the party Spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, said FDC leaders have been attacked four times by people claiming to be people power activists.

The latest incident happened on Saturday in Gulu municipality where Besigye was chief guest at thanks giving party for the Leader of Opposition, Betty Aol Ochan .

Ssemujju said, Besigye was heckled by a “young man” who had been sent to deliver a letter from Democratic Party president, Norbert Mao, communicating that he wouldn’t be attending the event.

The young man, Ssemujju said attempted to seek attention by causing unnecessary attention.

FDC’s preliminary investigations, Ssemujju said show that people power has been infiltrated by state agents who are being used to attack their party leaders, causing diversion among change seeking forces.

Ssemujju said Museveni’s notoriety of infiltrating political parties is known by everybody.

He said FDC leaders should restrain themselves even when attacked.

Though people power is not yet an institutionalized political party, Ssemujju said it has leaders who should isolate people attacking FDC in its name.

He warned that if people power fail to isolate people attacking FDC leaders, it will be construed that they are supporting them.

Bobi Wine was quick in condemning youth who attacked and heckled Besigye after appearing on Buganda Kingdom CBS FM more than a week ago.

Since then, FDC says its leaders have been attacked three times in Jinja, Gulu and Amolatar districts.

Sssemujju said FDC is more than ready to defend itself when those provoking it cross redline.

“I must categorically make it clear that FDC will robustly respond to those who want to attack and harm our leaders.  If they don’t know, they will find us ready,” he said.

“Because we have suffered extremely at the hands of Museveni for a long time. And that has given us enough training. We want to reserve that energy to fight Museveni, not other opposition colleagues,” he added.
