Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Residents of Fort Portal city are in fear after discovering two people suspected to have been murdered and their bodies dumped near places of worship.
on Friday morning, a body of an unidentified man was found dumped along the road to St Charles Lwanga Catholic church in Central Division, Fort Portal City .
It was discovered by boda boda riders who park near the spot at around 8:30 AM on Friday.
Residents who were at the scene told URN that the victim is around 30 – 40 years of age and his legs were apparently cut by his murderers. They say that he could have been murdered from somewhere else and his body just dumped there.
In a similar incident that shocked residents on Saturday morning, another unidentified body was discovered in front of the Fort Portal Main Mosque just a few meters from where the first body was found on Friday.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was a male about 35- 40 years of age.
The residents are now in fear worried about similar incidents happening in a space of two days in the same area.
James Businge says that the place where the body was found is a dark spot and the killers could have used the nocturnal cover to dump there the body. He thus asked the city leadership to install street lights in the dark spots to reduce crime in the city.
Onesimus Asimwe, a boda boda rider says that as the festive season is approaching, such incidents are on the rise and Boda boda riders are the biggest target. He asked security to intervene.
The bodies are now at to the Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue.
Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police spokesperson told URN that the police homicide team was managing the crime scene and police had commenced investigations into the murders.
On Monday, a 23-year-old Sarah Ahaiswe a banking agent was discovered dead in her house in Rwengoma Village in Fort Portal city.
