First Lady Museveni renews commitment to protect girls’ rights

New York, US | THE INDEPENDENT | In a resolute statement delivered at the launch event for phase III of the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Program to end Child Marriage, held during the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York, USA, First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, underscored Uganda’s unwavering commitment to uphold the rights of adolescent girls.

The assurance conveyed through the Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio; Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama reiterated Uganda’s dedication to collaborating with development partners to protect adolescent girls’ rights.

The event served as a platform to reaffirm Uganda’s stance on combating child marriage and advancing gender equality, reflecting the country’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the well-being and empowerment of its young female population.
