Foreign legion expected at UGC Ladies Open

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |  The biggest Ladies Golf Tournament at the Uganda Golf Club has attracted foreign lady golfers. The Uganda Golf Club Ladies Open will tee off from October 5-7 at the par 72, Kitante course.

The tournament which is a build up to the prestigious Uganda Ladies Open, has attracted lady golfers from Sweden, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Tanzania.

“As the host club for the Uganda Open Golf Championship this year, we decided to push our UGC Ladies Open closer to the Main event to give the ladies and golfers coming from upcountry and out of Uganda a better chance to play in two ladies Opens,” Wendy Angudeyo, the lady captain said at the launch.
“We are expecting around 210 golfers or more for this year’s edition.”

The Uganda Golf Club Ladies Section event is in it’s fifth year.

Irene Nakalembe, who is a lady Pro won the 2018 edition and 2019 and 2021 was won by Martha Babirye, last year’s winner is the Toro Club Lady Captain Peace Amooti Kabasweka.

NCBA, one of the key sponsors of Golf is sponsoring the event together with other sponsors Pepsi Uganda, who will be refreshing the golfers on and off the course with Pepsi products, Emin Pasha Hotel, Fairway Hotel, Gorilla Heights Lodge, who are offering a package accomodation and touring the Bwindi Forests to the overall winners, Case Medical Services and Kinyara Sugar Works
