Former MP Aleper dies in motor accident

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Busoga East police have confirmed the death of Simon Peter Aleper, a former member of parliament in a hit-and-run motor accident. The accident occurred around 1 am at Bukoona along the Iganga -Tirinyi highway involving a V8 motor vehicle registration number UAP 787Q, which Aleper was driving.

The V8 that was coming from the direction of Mbale collided with an unknown motor vehicle that was coming from the direction of Iganga. Aleper was killed on the spot, according to a statement from the Busoga East Region Police.

Assistant Inspector of Police, Magoola, and the traffic police who visited the scene. Police transferred the deceased’s body to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem and towed his vehicle to Iganga police yard pending inspection.

Aleper, who served as the Moroto Municipality legislator in the last parliament has been the vice chairperson for the ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM for the Karamoja region and a member of the central executive committee.
