Hoima city gets two new Divisional Police Commanders

Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza confirmed report.

Hoima, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The police top management has deployed two Divisional Police Commanders-DPCs to take charge of the two divisions of Hoima city.

The two commanders are ASP Micheal Ojik who will take charge of Hoima West division, and SP Alex Wabwire, who will take charge of Hoima East division respectively.

Initially, Hoima city that became operational in July 2021 was under Hoima central police station that was also serving the entire district.

Hoima East division comprises of Kyentale, Nyakabungu, Kicwamba, Bwikya, Southern, Northern, and Central wards.

Hoima West division comprises of Kihomboza, Kyesiga, Karongo, Bujuura, Western, Kasingo, Kihuukya, Kibingo and Kiduuma wards.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network in an interview on Friday that Hoima East division police headquarters will be situated at the current structure housing Hoima central police station, while Hoima West division police headquarters will be situated in Kasingo cell.

According to Hakiza, Hoima district police headquarters have now been shifted to Kitoba sub county and the district Police commander is ASP Ruth Kamusiime.

He says the creation of the two divisional police stations is aimed at beefing up security in the entire city center and other areas surrounding the city.

According to Hakiza, initially it was hard for police to respond to emergencies in both the city and the district given the limited manpower, adding that with the creation of the two new police stations, it will be easier for them to patrol and respond to various crimes in the city and the district respectively.

Hakiza has rallied leaders and residents in the two divisions of Hoima city to cooperate and effectively utilize the two newly created police stations to fight crime.

The deployment of the two divisional police commanders comes at a time when Hoima city is experiencing a surge in insecurity including cases of murders, robberies, house break-ins, kidnaps, and motorcycle thefts.
