Hundreds gather in Soroti, Dokolo to recieve Cecilia Ogwal’s body

Soroti, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Thousands of mourners gathered at Soroti Independence Ground on Tuesday to view the body of the late Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal the Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament.

The body spent close to an hour on the ground where FDC supporters led by the party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and thousands of other people had gathered to view the body.

However, mourners were disappointed by the fact that they could not view the body because it arrived late. By 9:30 Pm the body reached Abalang trading center in Kaberamaido bordering Dokolo district where mourners comprising of Lango district political and technical leaders, religious leaders, businessmen had gathered.

Other people including young children pitched camp at Dokolo Town and other trading centers wailing in patiently. Others ululated in joy when they saw the car carrying Cecilia’s body approach. The body  after taken to her home in Alyecowe village in Adok sub county.

The convoy reached home at 11:00 PM and was received by religious leaders from Lango Diocese under the leadership of Bishop Emeritus John Charles Odur Kami who consoled the mourners and tasked them to emulate Atat Cecilia’s way of life.

James Otto Apili, the Dokolo District LCV chairperson told mourners how the arrival of Atat Cecilia was confirmation to him that she is gone for good. Otto who spoke about the motherly relationship he shared with the late wondered how he would cope up with the gap left behind by her demise.

Cecilia Atim’s body will spend the night at her paternal home in Adok sub county for the last from where it will leave for Dokolo Technical School for a joint council meeting which will be held on Wednesday by local government councils from Lango in her honor before the final burial on Saturday.
