Indian players dominate Uganda Para-Badminton International 2024

KAMPALA, Uganda | Xinhua | Indian players dominated the Uganda Para-Badminton International 2024 held here from July 2-7.

India’s Jatin Azad defeated Ibrahim Aliyev of Azerbaijan 21-14, 21-16 in the men’s singles SU5 final, while Arati Janoba Patil of India won over her compatriot Latika Latika 21-16, 21-15 in the women’s singles SU5 final.

Nigeria’s pair Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna and Obinna Preciuos Nwosu battled their way through the rounds but lost to Kartik Suhag and Aman Thakur of India in the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 final.

Indian players also emerged victorious in the men’s singles SL3, men’s singles SL4, women’s singles SL3, and mixed doubles WH1-WH2.

Simon Mugabi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) said the tournament was very successful and gave the local players good ground to get exposure.

“We are happy because several foreign players came and participated in this international tournament,” added Mugabi. ■

    I hope you are well.

    Regarding your news here on Uganda Para-Badminton International 2024, I have not seen you writing about Uganda players who made it to semi-finals under WH 2, WH 1, MD WH 1 – WH 2, SL 3, SU 5 and finals under WH 1.

    In your online news, surprisingly you don’t mention Ugandan players any where.

    Am wondering why you left us Ugandans out!
