Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) has expressed optimism that recognizing top-performing industry agents will significantly boost insurance penetration and contribute to the sector’s overall growth.
During the 13th Annual UIA Insurance Agents Awards held on April 26 at Speke Resort Munyonyo, UIA’s Chairman of the Executive Committee, Latimer Mukasa, said agents constitute over 60% of the insurance workforce and thus crucial for promoting the industry.
This year’s awards, themed “Celebrating Agents as Catalysts of Change in the Industry,” recognized several outstanding performers. Winnie Nambogo from Excel Insurance clinched the top award for Central Uganda, while Hamidu Bakaal from First Insurance took the top spot in the Eastern region. Mercy Adania from Excel Insurance was the leading agent in Northern Uganda, and Patrick Tumwesige from the Western region rounded out the list of winners.
