Isingiro, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Seven people have been confirmed dead in a road accident that happened at Kyeirumba along the Mbarara-Isingiro Road last evening.
A bus registration number UBG 812K, belonging to Global Bus Company, that was heading to Kikagate is said to have collided with a Mbarara-bound Fuso truck registration number UBL 945U when the tragedy occurred.
Ritah Kiyuba, the Officer in Charge of Traffic in Isingiro district said that the deceased were boys aged between 20 and 30 who were seated on top of the truck. The Bus passengers survived with Injuries. Kiyuba attributed the accident to overspeeding.
James Mugume, one of the eyewitnesses said that the bus was moving at a high speed while approaching a corner on a slope and the Fuso truck was negotiating the corner on a climbing lane when both drivers lost control while trying to dodge each other.
Police were yet to identify the deceased by the time of filing the story.
