Copenhagen, Denmark | THE INDEPENDENT | Ugandan long-distance runner Jacob Kiplimo secured second position the in Danish capital city on Sunday race.
The reigning world record holder in the same distance, crossed the finishing line in 58 minutes and 6 seconds in a race won by Kenya’s world Champion Sabastian Sawe who secured the podium finish in 58 minutes and six seconds. Isaia Kipkoech Lasoi, another kenyan bagged the third position setting his personal best (PB), of 58minutes and 10 seconds.
Kiplimo, and the two Kenyans were all in contention in the closing stages, but Sawe had the strongest finish.
He managed to get a gap on Kiplimo with the finishing line in sight and won. Kiplimo confessed that, the preparations prior comes just a month after the recently concluded Paris Olympics were he participated in 10000 meters, and finish 6th position.
“I am happy, that even with the little training I did, I managed to run my sessional best” Kiplimo told URN via WhatsApp.
Peter Chelangat, Kiplimo’s coach, praised the performances, noting that it gives them a pitch on how to improve on the preps in the upcoming races.
