Juma Seiko’s body guard remanded over Nakasero shooting

A private body guard to the board chairman of Sebei Elgon Co-operative Union  Major Juma Seiko was on Thursday charged and remanded to Luzira Prison on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Prosecution led by  Emilly Ninsima alleges that on December 4, 2016, at Major Seiko’s residence in Nakasero, former soldier Alex Cherotich shot dead  Lameck Ogwanga and Fred Ssembatya.

Prosecution further alleges Cherotich  also injured  David  Ssenkubuge  and Solomon Mugabi.

Cherotich was produced before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Jamson Karemani. Cherotich was not allowed to plead to the charges, being capital in nature and only triable and bailable  by the High court.

He has now been sent on remand until the December 30, 2016  as inquiries into his case continues.
