The Independent Uganda: You get the Truth we Pay the Price

Rebecca Kadaga has been honoured as the first Female speaker in Uganda among eight women all over Africa. They each won the prestigious African Influential Amazon Award 2012.
In addition, she was recognized for her role in inspiring and mentoring young female leaders.
The Award conferred on merit, was presented to the Speaker by the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development at the All Africa Women Leader’s Dinner held in Nairobi Kenya.
Centre for Economic and Leadership Development (whose patron is Dr. Ida Odinga wife of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya) in special consultative status with The United Nations Economic and Social Council organized the dinner as one of the activities to mark the all African Women Leaders’ Summit 2012.
African Women leaders attended the summit to address issues such as vulnerability of the girl child, female heads of households, and the burden of care that rests on females. The summit also highlighted ways to support and strengthen the capacity of women to support, protect and care for the female adolescent orphaned and vulnerable children and; celebrate the 15 Most Outstanding Efforts of Women Leaders.
Other outstanding women also recognized were Anne S. Makinda (MP), Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania; Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, House Leader, Federal House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Rosemary Okello-Orlale, Exective Director, African Woman and Child Feature Service; Professor Comfort M. Ekpo, Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo, Nigeria; Chinwe Clare Nwaebili (Adaugo), Anambra State House of Assembly, Nigeria; and Lara Banjoko, Chief Operating Officer, SPOG Petrochemicals Ltd Nigeria.
