Fort Portal, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT | The King of Tooro Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has tasked parents to ensure that they teach their children cultural norms and values in order to preserve the Tooro culture for future generations.

Omukama Oyo was speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the Abagaya clan at Whispering Gardens in Fort Portal City on Thursday evening.

He rallied parents to teach children about their clans and other cultural norms so that the Tooro culture can be preserved and passed on to future generations.

King Oyo added that since clans are the foundation of the kingdom, they need to be preserved and kept firm to hold the kingdom.

Eng Francis Kateeba, a member of the Abagaya clan, said that they always hold this meeting annually in order to deliberate on the issues of development.

He says that the event has helped them to know each other and network, which has even helped them develop business partnerships.

Kateeba added that the clan has since formed a savings and cooperative group – SACCO to help members save and access funds at low-interest rates.
